Booking your first mobile sauna session brings a little mystery with it. What actually happens on the day? How does it all work? If you like to know what you are walking into, this is for you. Here is a step-by-step walkthrough of a Toasty Gnome sauna session, from the moment you book to the moment you head home warm and reset.

Before the Day: Booking & Prep

It all starts with a message. You reach out with your dates, your location, and the kind of session you want, and we sort out the details together. Once your booking is set, you will get the information you need to prepare, including where to set up and what to bring.

Prep on your end is light. Pack a swimsuit, a couple of towels, a change of clothes, and a water bottle. Drink water through the day leading up to your session, since going in hydrated makes the heat more comfortable. Beyond that, there is nothing to haul or assemble. That part is on us.

Delivery & Setup

For a delivered rental, we bring the sauna to your spot and set it up for you. All we need is a flat, open area, like a backyard, a driveway, or an event lot. Because the sauna is wood-fired, we get the stove going ahead of time so the room is hot and ready when your session begins. There is no waiting around for it to warm up once you arrive.

Arriving for Your Session

When it is time, you change into your swimsuit in the designated changing area, a private spot to get ready. Then you step up to the sauna, open the door, and feel that first wall of heat. It is a good idea to take a moment to settle in before you find your bench.

The unit seats about five adults, with three on the top bench and two on the bottom. Heat rises, so the top runs hotter than the bottom. Pick the level that feels right to you, and do not be shy about starting lower if you are new to it.

Your First Round in the Heat

Settle onto a bench and let the heat do its thing. For the first few minutes, just breathe and relax. As you warm up, you will start to sweat, your muscles will loosen, and the day will begin to slow down. If you want more steam, ladle a little water over the rocks and feel the heat lift.

A typical round runs ten to fifteen minutes, though you should step out sooner if you feel too hot. There is no rush and no prize for staying in longest. Listen to your body the whole way through.

The Cold Plunge

When you are good and warm, it is time for the cold plunge, if your session includes one. Stepping into cold water after the heat is a jolt, and the first few seconds take some nerve. Then comes the payoff. You step out feeling wide awake, clear-headed, and oddly calm all at once.

A short dip is all it takes. Ease in if the cold feels like too much at first, and build up your time as you get used to it.

Settling Into the Rhythm

From here, you fall into the cycle. Back to the heat, then the cold again, then the heat, as many rounds as you like within your booking. Most people find a rhythm that feels good after the first round or two. Between rounds, cool down, drink water, and enjoy the company if you are with a group.

Wrapping Up

When your time winds down, you change back into dry clothes in the changing area. For a delivered rental, we handle breakdown and cleanup, so there is nothing for you to pack up. You head home loose, warm, and reset, with none of the work left behind.

Ready to Book

That is the whole flow, start to finish. It is simpler than you might expect, and the only thing asked of you is to show up and relax. The Toasty Gnome brings the wood-fired sauna and optional cold plunge to you across the greater Plainville area in Connecticut.

Now that you know what to expect, the only thing left is to pick your date. Reach out, and we will take care of the rest.
